INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE.
Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match
My
thoughts:
I bought Beautiful Disaster because I was curious about it.I heard of its great success and I wanted to see it with my eyes. The first half of the book was ok,but the rest of it,not.I didn't expected something big from this book, but I also didn't expect to dislike it so much.Everything was ok until the trip to Las Vegas. From that point, the story changed completely and the characters, also.I couldn't recognize Abby and Travis.
I have
to write negative reviews, but I have to do this to this book.I can't say it was
horrible,or that it had nothing that I could like, because I would lie.I am very
honest in my reviews. And I usually like the book that I buy,but this book
simply didn't fit for me.I am still wondering what I have missed?I think that
it simply didn't work for me.It didn't make me feel anything.
Beautiful Disaster is a story about love, full
of unexpected and very good written. At first I couldn't see the comparisons
with the" Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy, but finally,I understood why
people compared this two books. And I was disappointed.
First
of all,I would like to talk about the love story.I don't think that Travis
loved Abby.I think that he was obsessed with her.I felt like this was a story
about obsession, not about love.He treats her like she is his toy,and he can do
anything he wants with her.You know what they say,if you love someone, you have
to let him free.I am totally sure that Travis didn't hear about this.I reallt
think that the cover fits with the book's content. The butterfly is Abby, and she
isn't free because she's in Travis's jam.
If I
talk about the author's style of writing,I would say that she is really good.It
is the kind of book that you read in one day.The action is very intense, and it
doesn't have breaks. She has a lot of beautiful ideas and doesn't want to write
thousands of pages from them. She really has talent and potential but I think
that she didn't choose the best type of book.Maybe she was influenced by the
great success of Fifty Shades trilogy.
I
really liked the main characters in the beginning of the novel, but in the end I
couldn't stand them.Travis is good-looking,charming and muscular, but he is also
jealous, paranoid and violent. He is controlling, possessive and he is
blackmailing her emotional. The annoying think is that in the book he is
presented as a hero, who does everything for Abby.I think that guy was totally obsessed.
Abby is
a bad girl and Travis also, even thought they try to look like good persons. Both
of them have a dark past, but you can change your future if you want.Maybe this
is what the author tried to suggest, that despite the fact that we try to forget
our past,it will come and haunt us in the future.I would like a strong female
character, but Abby is not like this. She is a weak person and Travis always
controls her actions.
I was disappointed that this book had no
message for the reader.It also,encourages relationships with a violent,possessive
and emotionaly abusive girlfriend/boyfriend.I wouldn't like to know that my
girlfriend would control my every move.
All in all,I think that the story had great
potential. The author had a really good style in narrating the actions.I know
for sure that I will read her next book.Maybe that one, will fit for me.I know
that there are a lot of people who liked this book and I recommend it if you
liked "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L.James or "Perfect
Chemistry" by Simone Elkins. Happy reading!
